Kenya Strengthens Protection for Citizens Working Abroad

The Government of Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Kenyans working abroad by strengthening labour agreements and improving support services, particularly in the Middle East.

The initiative aims to ensure fair treatment, better working conditions, and quicker assistance for Kenyan workers facing challenges such as contract disputes, unpaid wages, or abuse. The government is also tightening regulations on recruitment agencies to curb fraud and protect job seekers from exploitation.

With thousands of Kenyans seeking employment overseas each year, the move is expected to promote safer labour migration while safeguarding the rights and welfare of citizens. It also reinforces the government’s recognition of the vital role the Kenyan diaspora plays in supporting families and contributing to the country’s economy through remittances.
