To be honest, the year 2020 felt like a wild ride through a storm. The COVID-19 pandemic brought many challenges we had never faced before. It struck suddenly, like a hurricane out of nowhere, similar to the Great Hurricane of 1780, known as Huracán San Calixto. The Telesky Foundation found itself right in the middle of this storm, but we were determined to stay strong and find a way forward.
One of the biggest disruptions for us was our computer donation program. This program aimed to give computers to schools in underserved areas, helping students learn and grow. However, when schools closed in March, it felt like the doors were locked shut. The quiet in those empty classrooms reminded us of how many students were affected, especially those who needed school resources the most.
We had big plans to provide computers to these schools, connecting students to technology and opening up new learning opportunities. But as the storm raged on, our plans were put on hold. It was as if our commitment to helping students was lost in the chaos.
Despite these challenges, we stayed true to its mission. We knew we couldn’t give up; instead, we looked for safe places to regroup. While our donation program was paused, we began to explore new ways to support students. We thought about remote learning solutions and how to keep students engaged, even when they were home. This sparked new ideas and hope for the future.
The pandemic highlighted the importance of digital access and flexible education. It showed us that there were many inequalities that needed to be addressed, making our work even more important. We realized that our mission was not just about providing technology; it was about empowering communities and ensuring every student had the resources to succeed.
As the storm began to calm and schools started to think about reopening, the Telesky Foundation got ready to resume our donation program with fresh energy. We learned valuable lessons during the tough times of 2020, shaping our plans to ensure we could support education no matter what challenges lay ahead.
Though the pandemic delayed our efforts, it did not stop us. The Telesky Foundation is now more prepared than ever to not only restart our computer donation program but also expand our efforts to provide technology and educational resources to those who need them most. We are committed to being a source of support and hope for educational advancement, ready to face any future challenges.
Every challenge brings a chance to grow, and we are excited about what lies ahead. Together, we will continue to support education, fostering resilience and innovation in the communities we serve. The road may be long, but we are dedicated to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
